  • Lori Brown
    Lori Brown

    Lori Brown has been a family member of Mount Carmel Christian School since 2002, when her son started in PreK4. After working 16 years with Bellsouth as a Project Manager, she wanted to play a more active role in her son’s education, so she joined the Mount Carmel staff and has served in many different positions before realizing her true calling. She has always loved working with children and helping them reach their highest potential. In 2009, she returned to school to obtain her Master’s Degree. She currently has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, Master’s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and is working on her Leadership certification.


    Mrs. Brown loves working in an environment that values so many aspects of education. Here at Mount Carmel Christian School we seek to prepare our students academically, spiritually, and socially focusing on a love for God.   She loves spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband have the one son, Christian, who graduated from Tucker High School in 2016. Mrs. Brown also enjoys listening to Christian music, watching college football and movies.

    Office Manager/Day Care Director

    Audrey Minter has been part of the Mount Carmel family for over 20 years. Mrs. Minter was a parent of two children who both graduated from Mount Carmel Christian School. They both moved on to high school and then college. Mrs. Minter started with Mount Carmel as a parent volunteer, soon became a room mom, and then eventually taught as a PreK-4 teacher.   She was then offered the position of Secretary and then moved forward in her role to become the Office Manager as well as the Before & After School Director.


    Mrs. Minter loves the daily interaction with the students and families.   She truly enjoys working at Mount Carmel Christian School as a day never goes by without laughter.

  • Susan Jordan
    Susan Jordan
    Pre-K & Kindergarten Teacher

    Mrs. Susan Jordan has taught at MCCS since joining the staff in August of 2000. Prior to teaching here, she was a Mount Carmel Christian School parent with a daughter who became a Mount Carmel “True Eagle” graduate in 2006. She has enjoyed teaching both Pre-K and Kindergarten at MCCS as she guided her students to “grow” both academically and spiritually in their beginning walk with The Lord. She graduated from Furman University in South Carolina with a BA in Education. Mrs. Jordan enjoys teaching reading and math in fun, interactive, exploratory ways to build a great foundation for learning Take one look inside her classroom and it will show you that she loves collecting bears and books!

  • Lauriette Johnson
    Lauriette Johnson
    Grade 1 Teacher

    Like many other teachers, Lauriette Johnson started out at Mount Carmel Christian School as a parent. In 2005, her daughter entered MCCS in the third grade while her son began kindergarten that year. After spending time volunteering, Mrs. Johnson joined the staff full-time as a third grade teacher in 2007. She remained in that position for five years. During the 2011-2012 school year, Mrs. Johnson was awarded a “Class Act” award for excellence in teaching by WXIA’s 11Alive News.


    In 2012, Mrs. Johnson took a break from full-time teaching to spend more time with her family. During this time, however, Mrs. Johnson was never too far away from MCCS. She worked as a substitute teacher, which included a semester-long assignment as the temporary V.O.Y.A.G.E. teacher.

    Mrs. Johnson returned to teaching full-time at MCCS in 2014. She is currently working in first grade and loving it! Outside of teaching, Mrs. Johnson enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, and fine dining. She loves singing on the Praise Team at Mount Carmel Christian Church where she and her family are members.  She and her husband Terence have three awesome kids–Morgan, Myles, and Marcus. She also has an amazing English Bulldog named Penny.  

  • Katherine Harrison
    Katherine Harrison
    Grade 2 Teacher

    Katherine Harrison was destined to be a teacher! She has always enjoyed playing school. She was influenced by a great aunt and a cousin who were educators, and she even inherited the secretary she used to store my teaching materials when she was in elementary school.

    Mrs. Harrison earned a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a M.A. in primary grades from Piedmont College. She has experienced teaching at all levels in Maine, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. Her favorite task is sharing her love of children’s literature and mathematics with her students. It is such a wonderful opportunity to teach in a Christian school where we strive to guide the growth of the whole child.


    She is supported by her husband, Norman, and they have been blessed with two married sons and four grandchildren. She is an elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church serving as chair of Christian Education Committee, and She serves on the executive board of Alpha Delta Kappa (educational sorority), Iota Chapter as past co-president. She enjoys watching college sports, playing bridge and tennis, and entertaining family and friends.

    Grade 3 Teacher

    Mrs. Joanie Thomas has been teaching in elementary school for 34 years with 4 of them at Mount Carmel. On her school journey she has taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades as well as being a technology coordinator. Third grade has always been her favorite grade. 


    Mrs. Thomas is married with a daughter & two dogs!  Her favorite things are chocolate, the beach, massages, & reading.  She LOVES to use technology in as many different ways as she can imagine in the classroom.

    Grade 4 Teacher

    Ellen Galloway is a proud graduate of Florida State University. She taught third grade for nine years in DeKalb County and then left teaching in order to work with my husband. It quickly became clear to me that she missed teaching, and that it was her calling and joy. When Mrs. Galloway returned to teaching, she was privileged to join the staff of Mount Carmel Christian School where she taught fifth grade for five years. After those five years, Mrs. Galloway spent the next thirty-one years in second grade. She retired after forty-five years of teaching. During that year of retirement, she had time to reflect, relax, and rejuvenate. She is now retread. Retirement was not for her! It is her privilege to come back into the classroom as the fourth grade teacher. She is so excited to rejoin her MCCS family.


    On a personal note, Mrs. Galloway and her husband were married thirty-nine years before he lost a five year battle with cancer. They had one son who is thirty-four and he is her pride and joy. Her husband had three precious children from a previous marriage. Mrs. Galloway continues to have a wonderful relationship with them, and through them she has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


    In her opinion you will not find a better school for your child anywhere than Mount Carmel Christian School.

    Grade 5 Teacher

    Mrs. Ellen Johnson began her teaching career at the adult level where she created a modular reading program for adults on the go. She has been teaching at the elementary level for 22 years in all grade levels including special services during her 17 years here at MCCS. Mrs. Johnson and her husband have been married for 28 years and they have four beautiful children all whom graduated from MCCS.

  • Michael Ingle
    Michael Ingle
    Grade 6, 6th -8th Science, 6th Social Studies, & Algebra

    Michael Ingle is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Chemistry. He is a native of Georgia. This is his first year at Mount Carmel Christian School. He has been teaching and tutoring high school science & math for over 10 years. He is currently teaching 6th – 8th grade Science, 6th grade World Studies and 8th grade Algebra. Mike’s hobbies are traveling (preferably to Europe), lighthouses, listening to classical music and watching sports especially soccer. 

  • Julius Thompson
    Julius Thompson
    Grade 7 & Language Arts

    Julius J.E. Thompson spent twenty-eight years as a Language Arts educator in the Georgia Public Schools and the last twenty in the DeKalb County School System. Mr. Thompson was a Creative Writing Instructor for nine years at Evening at Emory University. Mr. Thompson was a high school basketball coach that led teams to the Sweet 16 in the GHSA tournament. He is the author of the following books: A Brownstone in Brooklyn, Philly Style and Philly Profile, the national-award winning The Ghost of Atlanta, Purple Phantoms, Jumpstarting Your Inner Novelist and Stormy Winds.

  • Diane Whitten

    Grade 8, 7th & 8th Social Studies & 6th & 7th Math

    Diane is very excited to be working here at Mount Carmel Christian School.   She knows that working together with her students and their parents will enable each Middle School student to be the best they can be.   Communication is the key!!


    Mrs. Whitten taught for the Gwinnett County Public School System for 30 years. She taught at Summerour Middle School, Five Forks Middle School and Crews Middle School.   She served in leadership roles at each school.   After retiring from teaching, Diane went to work for the Gwinnett County Public Library system. Here, she was still able to work with and help young people!   The opportunity to join MCCS presented itself to her during the summer and she jumped at the chance to join our staff.


    Mrs. Whitten attended college at Mercer University in Macon Georgia. She did graduate work and gifted certification at the University of Georgia. She is a big Bulldogs fan!!!!   Diane attends church at North Metro Baptist Church in Lawrenceville.


    Mrs. Whitten is a very active person – she loves being outside. She is a runner and a tennis player.   Diane does at least one 5k/10K each month. Her family is very important to her. She has a daughter, Brooke, who is 30. Her husband, Court, is a retired law enforcement officer.   Her parents live in Cumming.   Family first!!!!

  • Yolanda Cox
    Yolanda Cox

    Mrs. Cox’s professional objective is to motivate and encourage students to strive toward achieving academic success.   She is originally from Brighton, Alabama.  Her formal education was at Saint Mary’s Catholic School.  Mrs. Cox obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at the University of Alabama…Roll Tide!!!  She received her Master of Science degree at Troy State University in Counseling and Psychology.  She is certified in Special Education.  Mrs. Cox was a Resource and High School teacher at Greenforest Christian Academy for four years.  She taught Psychology, Sociology, and History. She enjoys teaching and believes that this is one of God's purposes for her life.


    Mrs. Cox is the wife of Steven Cox and mother of Isaiah, a student of Mount Carmel Christian School and Jennifer Cox.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, scrapbooking, gardening, and playing tennis.

    Elementary Bible & Spanish

    Mrs. Wright has been on staff with Mount Carmel Christian School since 2006 and has been a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church since 2003.  Mrs. Wright graduated from the University of Georgia with degrees in Political Science and French and currently teaches Spanish and Elementary Bible.  She is excited to begin teaching French second semester.  


    Mrs. Wright is married to Jay, and together they have three children - Olivia - 19, Alex - 15, and Mary - 13.  The family enjoys serving at their church together and are active in their community as well.  Mrs. Wright loves the Mount Carmel family and considers it an honor to partner with the parents at MCCS in the education of their children.

    Middle School Bible

    Mr. Bebout is a long time member of Mount Carmel, having grown up in the church. He also attended the school in 4k and 5k as a little Eagle! In addition to being in the classroom he is a nursing assistant working with people in and outside of their homes. These experiences together allow him to show the same love of Christ that he teaches!


    Mr. Bebout enjoys being a part of the church side of Mount Carmel, as well! Some of the things he participates in are Bible School in the Student Ministry, KidsTime on Sunday mornings, and leading a middle school small group. He believes in the passion the church has to reach the community for Christ!


    In his free time, Mr. Bebout enjoys a variety of activities. Some of his passions include gaming, reading, computers, and sports. The times he can include all four are his favorites!

    Will has a passion for health and fitness. He is finishing up his degree in Exercise Science and is an ACE Certified Group Personal Trainer. He also serves as the youth director for MCCC. 

  • Jamie Renshaw

    Fine Arts

    This fall Mrs. Jamie Renshaw begins her 10th year at MCCS teaching music and art and helping to lead our weekly chapel services and special programs. She is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian university and was born and raised in Detroit Michigan before moving to Georgia. 


    Using a variety of musical styles and instruments and a wide variety of art techniques, Mrs Renshaw teaches students about many cultures in our world and enriches our student's academic studies as they learn about the great masters of art and music and their role in history.  Students perform throughout the school year in Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring programs. 


    Mrs. Renshaw is married to William Renshaw and they have 3 daughters: Celia, Elyse and Grace.

    Food Services Manager

    Mrs. Livingston first joined the Mount Carmel family in 2004 as a parent.  She joined the staff in 2015.  She has been married to her handsome husband Christopher for 20 years and they have two beautiful children; a daughter, Christian who attends Chamblee Charter High School and a son, Liam who attends school here at Mt. Carmel.    


    Mrs. Livingston is a military veteran who has enjoyed serving her country.  She loves traveling, antiquing, genealogy, history, sewing, crafting, refinishing furniture, playing basketball, board games, movies and hanging out with her family.  


    She strives hard to always do the right thing, treat everyone as she would like to be treated, make the right choices, and above all else, serve God.  


    Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".

  • Rick Moore
    Rick Moore

    Rick Moore is originally from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. He is the husband of Tracy Moore. Their son Christopher and his wife Ashley live in metro Atlanta. He is a proud grandfather to be. Mr. Moore enjoys, photography, genealogy, history, kayaking, biking, golfing, and working with tools. Above all he enjoys teaching students of all ages.


    Mr. Moore accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on November 28, 1970. He and his wife are members of Mount Carmel Christian Church. Mr. Moore has served as a Deacon and an Elder. Mr. Moore encourages anyone who does not have a home church to come to Mount Carmel.


    Upon his retirement, he was asked to serve as a volunteer consultant to Mount Carmel Christian School Board of Education, a premier Christian school. Mr. Moore says that it has been a blessing to serve the Mount Carmel Christian School family in a variety of ways since 2009.   Mr. Moore encourages anyone who does not have a home church to come to Mount Carmel.  


    Mr. Moore came to DeKalb County in 1976 after graduating from East Tennessee State University with honors. Mr. Moore received his Masters from the University of Georgia in 1980 and his administrative/supervision certification from Georgia State University.


    During his career in the public schools, Mr. Moore taught Georgia History, U.S. History, Business Education, Drafting, Electronics, Graphic Arts, Architecture, Woodworking, Metalworking, and Engineering. He also coached basketball and his cross country teams won several county championships and were state runners-up twice. Mr. Moore also served on multiple committees at the county and state levels to select textbooks, write curriculum, design middle and high school engineering and technology education labs, evaluate teachers and programs, test equipment and improve industrial arts/technology education (Now Engineering).


    Mr. Moore retired from the DeKalb County School System in December of 2007, after more than 30 years as a teacher, coach, department head, coordinator and high school principal. He continues to be involved education throughout the state as an independent educational consultant working for the Georgia DOE, UGA, GSU, and both private and public school systems on days that he is not teaching at Mount Carmel.
