Lauriette Johnson
Grade 1 Teacher

Like many other teachers, Lauriette Johnson started out at Mount Carmel Christian School as a parent. In 2005, her daughter entered MCCS in the third grade while her son began kindergarten that year. After spending time volunteering, Mrs. Johnson joined the staff full-time as a third grade teacher in 2007. She remained in that position for five years. During the 2011-2012 school year, Mrs. Johnson was awarded a “Class Act” award for excellence in teaching by WXIA’s 11Alive News.

In 2012, Mrs. Johnson took a break from full-time teaching to spend more time with her family. During this time, however, Mrs. Johnson was never too far away from MCCS. She worked as a substitute teacher, which included a semester-long assignment as the temporary V.O.Y.A.G.E. teacher.

Mrs. Johnson returned to teaching full-time at MCCS in 2014. She is currently working in first grade and loving it! Outside of teaching, Mrs. Johnson enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, and fine dining. She loves singing on the Praise Team at Mount Carmel Christian Church where she and her family are members.  She and her husband Terence have three awesome kids–Morgan, Myles, and Marcus. She also has an amazing English Bulldog named Penny.
